Pattern Description:
Short sleeved, cowl neck, front pleated knit tunic. Pattern Sizing:
Sizes 34 to 42. I made a 40 (aka 36" bust)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, my finished tunic looks like the line drawing. It's a well drafted pattern.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
I didn't look at the instructions, it's Burda. This pattern is rated 1.5 dots and is really easy. I follow my own order of construction for knits:
-yoke onto front/back
-sew shoulders
-sew collar and sew to neck
-sew sleeves in flat
-sew side seams
-hem
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It's quick and easy. If you add narrow seam allowances, you could serge the whole project in about an hour.
The sizing was pretty generous, but it's a loose tunic. Measure the pattern if you're unsure of what size to use.
Fabric Used:
Ponte di Roma. I used 1.5 yards of 60" wide fabric.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made the skirt a bit more A-line (since I'm a bit more A-line...). I added 2 cm to the front at hem side seam, 4 cm to back and blended to nothing at the waist notch.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I may sew this again since this is so darn comfy. I may change the neckline or the sleeves with some simple pattern making. I'm think a version with a simple band at neck and 3/4 sleeves in a sweater knit would be nice.
Conclusion:
A very easy project. I ended up with what I wanted, a wearable comfortable tunic to wear with leggings or jeans. I may just make a few more variations on this theme.
Looks really nice on you. I like it with the tights. Trying to remember when I started subscribing to Burda.... :-)
