Pattern Description: Long sleeved knit top with neckline variations. Long length
Pattern Sizing:10-22 I used a size 14 at the neck, shoulder and armhole. I went from a 14 to a 22 on the sides.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?Burda instructions are minimal. No mention is made of stabilizing the shoulder seams. The order is fine-no skipping around. The sleeves have a high cap so the instructions have you put them in the round. I did that the first time because I wanted to check the side seams. The second time I put them in flat.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This is now my TNT pattern. I like the different necklines and the longer length.
Fabric Used:The stripe(View B) is a cotton poorboy knit. The patterned one(View A) is acetate slinky.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did a large arm alteration as usual and I did a small dartless FBA. There is a good explanation of this in The Perfect Fit by Creative Publishing. I also did a narrow shoulder adjustment of about 3/4 inch.
I decided that I wanted a narrower neck opening for view A and I bound the edges with self fabric instead of the bias binding called for. I also made View A (the slinky) shorter because I didn't have enough fabric. The peril of buying without a clear idea of the project.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I've made this 3 times now. It can be used with a variety of knits. Conclusion:
This is a great pattern. I plan on changing up the various necklines to create different looks. With that, and using different fabrics you would never know it was all the same pattern.
Great tops and great review. :)
