Pattern Description: Tote Bag and Purse. I made views A and B.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I disliked that the bags have no interior pockets for things like cell phones, keys, etc.
Fabric Used: Cotton for main body, cotton blend for pockets and gingham.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: There is a more or less wide range of suggested fabrics for this pattern so I used fabric scraps that I had in hand. However, the bags feel kind of flimsy when made in something like gingham. To add some body, I cut a lining using the main body pieces in a white cotton blend I had sitting around, and for practical purposes I also added a cell phone pocket. I think canvas or cotton duck would be better suited for this pattern, although it would still need a lining for aesthetic purposes.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes
Conclusion: I think it's a great pattern for beginners, I got to practice straight stitch, pressing and zipper sewing. And I finally got to use my zipper foot. Just make sure to pick the right fabric.
