Sharvana, I did not line this dress, but cut facings. Take your front bodice piece and lay it on a table. Put a layer of white wrapping tissue and trace around the neck edge and down the seam that stitches the shoulder seam. Now complete the facing pattern by measuring down from the neck edge about 3 1/4" all around the neck edge. Angle your ruler to measure all the way out to the edge of the shoulder seam . This will be your new front facing pattern. Then take your back neck and to the same. You will have two back neck facings. After that, you're home free. Just put in the zipper, sew the neck seams of the facings together. Sew the three joined facings onto the neck. Grade and clip your seam allowances and you're ready to put the zipper in.

I would rather not line this dress, how can I make a facing instead?

I forgot to mention that I also lengthened the bodice so that the waistline would fall at her natural waist. All these alterations were very, very easy to do. Don't be afraid to cut facings if you don't want or need to fully line a dress !
