ssewer is correct. This pattern's sleeve cap is 3/4 inches shorter than its armhole, making it impossible to set the sleeve. Home sewing patterns are supposed to be drafted to their company's grade-rules, a set of measurements that governs the fit of the pattern sizes. Unfortunately this pattern's sleeve cap is way off. I've worked on this pattern all last week, then tested the corrections in muslin. I've just published how to correct this pattern's sleeve cap on my blog at www.contemporaryfashioneducation.blogspot.com.

There is definitely something wrong with the sleeves and armholes on this pattern: it needed NO ease because the armholes are too big for the sleeves as it is. And I'm sure I did not make an error in cutting.

It is indeed a nice basic shirt, and I'm sure you will find it is worth the effort to tweak and get it absolutely right. I must try this pattern myself.
