Pattern Description: A mock turtleneck made from 3 pattern pieces.
Pattern Sizing:38, scaled down to a 36
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow?Yes
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I made this top for myself last year, in both cotton lycra knit and in a merino jersey, and frankly, it looked hideous on me. There were numerous folds above the bust, despite making a FBA, and it was rather fattening and bulgy around the waist. The neck fit badly, with pooling at the front. I wore the tops as underlayers, cursed the waste of my lovely merino knit, and threw out the tracing.
I was quite surprised to see this pattern as one of the top patterns of 2011.
A few weeks ago, my daughter needed a skivvy, and selected this pattern for herself. I made her trace it ;), but agreed to sew it for her, as she has rather a different figure than I, and given the popularity of the pattern, I thought it was worth a try - in non special fabric.
It looks great on her.
My rating reflects my experience for me. For others, such as my daughter, should I convince her to do her own sewing, this pattern would be a super quick and easy wardrobe basic.
Fabric Used:Wicking poly knit. This was for a hiking trip.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:No fitting changes. I stabilised the shoulder seam to the base of the neck using woven selvage, and added a fabric tag to the inner back neck to avoid dressing confusion.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? She can sew the next one.
Conclusion: So IMO this is a good pattern, for a slender bosomed teenager. It is not so good for my 40 year old slightly plump and D cup figure.

Nice looking top...I can't wait to make this one up. I love t-necks and it seems like such an easy pattern. Hopefully it's a decent fit for me.
