Pattern Sizing: need to add a little bit for fit 2XLG
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes mine turned out very similar to the photo.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The pattern layout was not accurate it did not allow enough fabric for the final layout of the sleeves so adjustment had to be made. Also extra fabric needed for lining the jacket. Sewing instructions were good & not too difficult to follow.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the style of the jacket, I liked the sturdiness of the actual paper itself unlike most thin tissue paper that tears so easily Kwik Sew has a very nice sturdier paper to their patterns. .......... an additional half yard is needed to make it well fitting & easier to cut out. The amount of fabric given required fussy cutting to be able to cut all the parts out as I could not get additional fabric to use when I realized it was not enough...: (
Fabric Used:Black suiting for the outer layer. Heavy duty black & white plaid for the lining. Black with silver swirl buttons.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added about 1/2 inch throughout. I also added inside rectangular pockets to the lining as that is how my husband likes his jackets. Also double folded hem of sleeves as DH is hard on his cuff areas. I also used one less button than pattern stated, making it to be more like DH wanted it to fit & look.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I would sew it again with the modifications I made. Would recommend it to others. I think it could be made into an even heavier version if you chose other fabrics. My friend made her DH one in twill & it came out more casual & lighter weight than the one I made. Conclusion:
The jacket turned out nicely. It was a slow project for me but my husband likes it & that makes me happy. I would consider it a spring/fall jacket . The fabric we chose makes it more of a dressier jacket than casual shown on pattern front.
We need a picture Kitty, please?
