If you like the shape, I highly recommend the hoop, it keeps the fabric off your legs on hot October days (if you even have that problem)! :) Oh, and I should also mention that the skirt I made is NOT from this pattern. It is a yardage of 45" cotton calico that I trimmed to about 35" and then gathered onto a waistband. I used LOTS of fabric (probably too much, to be honest) to give it fullness, but a nice full look can be achieved with a hoop, petticoats, panniers (padded or wired side bustles to widen the hips), or any combination of those items. 2/20/12 8:34 PM
