I too decided to start applying ribbing before sewing side seams--it's a colossal pain in the butt to do it after! And no one knows but us. Actually, I go inside after the garment is done and just tack down that ridge by hand. I'm glad to see you get good fit with Simplicity--they are WAY too large for my dgd. My best luck is with Kwik Sew. Your pjs look great and the fit looks good too.

Nice pj's. When I have to sew ribbing on something small, I do not try to stretch it over the machine arm, I sew with the rest of the sleeve opening up to the left. Also I have seen pj's where the zipper was sewn up and around to the back seam. It was to give more room for diaper changes, without having to take the legs out. I love one piece pajamas for keeping them warm in winter.
