I think this style looks very neat - and I'm impressed that you have combined 'comfy' with 'elegant'! They suit you really well, but I know what you mean about wanting pockets at the back :-)

I always like the look of front seaming on pants. It's a good detail for those of us who don't have a 36 inch inseam. Hope you get your serger back soon. I shouldn't laugh but your photo of the waistband has a twin at my house and you had a nice humorous comment rather than swear word which was probably what you were feeling.
