Dress with cap sleeves, wide mid-riff band, gathered skirt, and gathers on top bust and back.
I made this for someone slightly smaller than me, and I usually make a 12. I cut a 10 all the way around this time, and it fit me well also. I will probably take this tactic with most Vogue patterns going forward, as they usually run large for me.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Did not use much, except to make sure I was fitting the pieces together properly. I did not do french seams.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Flattering style that will suit many fabrics.
Thin cotton with a textured pattern. I underlined the skirt in battiste.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Increased seam allowance in center bust and shoulder seams to take in/up a bit. Raised v-neck about 1" so it wasn't plunging (always required for petite sizing).
Underlined skirt because fabric was thin. Serged the edges on the skirt. Lined the top with garment fabric.
Added flowers on the front (sew-on appliques purchased at JoAnn). close up
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I made this for my web designer and plan to find a fabric in my closet to sew it for myself. Some day.
