jlg said... Ann, hemming definitely took the most time on this skirt. I just measured a 3/8 inch hem and used about a million pins to keep it in place as I topstitched it. I kept a tissue beside the machine to blot the blood off my finger tips since I couldn't seem to stop pricking myself. A narrow rolled hem would certainly be a nice option with a thinner fabric, although I would definitely have to be in a patient mood. 12/13/04 5:28 AM

I attached the elastic to the wrong side of the yoke facing almost where the yoke and yoke facing meet. I then folded the yoke facing to the inside of the skirt. The elastic is now sandwiched between the yoke and facing. To hold in place, I topstitched fairly close to the top edge all around and stitched in the ditch at the side seams. There may be a much easier way to do this, and I wish that I could explain what I did better. 12/13/04 6:28 PM
