Maybe you could just leave the trims and closures out. It looks good plain. An invisible snap closure with a decorative button sewn on the outside could work for this top.

I'm so pleased to see this reviewed. It is on a list of Folkwear patterns I want to buy, though I am more taken by the tops with asymmetrical closings. I have made a couple of Folkwear patterns for men's shirts, with good results.
