|Pattern Description: |
Misses'/Miss petite dress in two lengths and bias sash: Dress in two lengths with sleeve and contrast variations has side seam pockets; dress A, C, E, F shown with purchased belt.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Not really, because of my alterations and mistakes.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but I managed to mess up anyway.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Like: It's a great basic shirtdress design with bust darts. I have another shirtdress pattern that I like, but it has some gathering so it's really best for light, soft fabrics. M4769 works well for heavier, stiffer material.
Dislike: I don't like that the buttons extend below the waist. I don't like that the button band is cut separately.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made a half-circle skirt with patch pockets. I made it buttoned only to the waist and added a side zipper. I didn't bother to try to set in the sleeves right, and made a pleat at the shoulder instead.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I'm working on version two right now! I've changed the bodice so there is no separate button band. I'm gathering the top of the sleeve so there is a little puff.
I can see this becoming a staple in my wardrobe.
