Nice coat!. I believe this is a new pattern--I could have used it last year for my dachshund--her body-shape is similar to your greyhound's, but closer to the ground! The shell looks like the one I finally developed, with help from the internet--the wide strip for the velcro keeps it secure around the chest; the optional collar is also a nice feature. Sounds like the rescue folks will love you and you'll get experience trying new techniques.

Very glad to find this review. I want to sew a coat for the retired greyhound that we are adopting in a few days. Harley will be our 1st male racer. I only have pink coats at home for our 2 female racers, Blue & Jello. I don't understand all of KateW's sewing lingo since I am a new sewer, but I understand that the pattern is easy & fits greyhounds. THANK YOU KateW !!
