I totally agree with you, the sizing on this pattern is ginormous. I attempted a xxl based on the pattern sizing. I, too, have narrower hips and legs than my tummy and high hip measurement. It is easy to sew but I would not recommend it if one is apple shaped. The pockets pulled away from the body on my muslin. I could have added elastic decided it was a wadder for me. It is easy to sew and the directions are clear.
