|Pattern Description: Unlined jacket/blazer|
Pattern Sizing: I made the 12
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? For the most part. There were a couple of spots where I was pretty sure I knew what it was telling me to do, but I had to talk it over with my husband and get a second pair of eyes to look at it to be sure.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? It was a bit time consuming, but it was pretty easy to piece together. The length of the sleeves fell at kind of an awkward place on me, so I just roll them up, which I like much better. I would have liked it to cut in just a tad at the waist for a bit more flattering fit, but that's just a personal preference, and I do like the straighter fit as well. The sleeve seam is a bit lower on the shoulder than I care for, and I would also maybe modify the lapels a bit so the shape of the accents stood out a bit more. I like the drape of it and the lightweight feel, and I also don't mind that it's not lined since all the seam allowances are finished on the inside.
Fabric Used: Cotton poplin.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: None this round, although I'm considering adding a button and button hole (the pattern doesn't call for it) since it's big enough that I could button it if I wanted.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I think it's a great beginner's blazer, and I've already received compliments.
Conclusion: I really like this blazer pattern. The sleeves were tricky to work with, and there are a few minor alterations I would probably do next time, but overall, it's very nice. I made a couple of the shirts that are also included in this pattern and was rather disappointed. The fit is just off and not real flattering for my body shape, but the blazer turned out much better.
