Pattern Description:
Regency period evening gown. View A.
Pattern Sizing:
I used a size 12 so that it would be tight in the bust. I don't have a regency corset (yet) and I think it would look funny with a regular bra.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
So far I think it looks fabulous. I still need to hem the skirt and lining as well as place the bodice trim and the back eyelets.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, this is one of the first outfits I've made on my own and I think I've done well so far.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The arm band on the sleeve is a bit too tight, I meant to make it larger by using a 1/2" seam, but didn't realize until I already placed the trim.
Fabric Used:
I used a light green drapery fabric with vine embroidering and a light olive green broadcloth lining. Also found some beaded ribbon, which I used as the stripes on the sleeves and the main trim on the skirt (which was very difficult to sew because my needle kept hitting and breaking the beads.)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Thinking of using less trim on the bodice, it just seems to be a bit crowded.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
If I did sew it again, I would probably buy cheaper fabric and trims...I believe I've spent at least $100 on this dress and that's with everything being on sale.
Conclusion:
Still in progress. I will upload a photo as soon as it is finished.
