Pattern Description:
From Colette Patterns' website, "A flattering and curvy dress. Includes a bodice fitted with darts, along with a contrasting top yoke, sleeves, and narrow midriff band. Short sleeves are gently scalloped along the sleeve hem, echoing the shape of the bodice. Skirt has large pleats, with pockets hidden in the front pleats. Closes with an invisible side zipper."
Pattern Sizing:
0-18. I cut a size 10.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes!! I was a very new sewist when I started this pattern, and the instructions were all very clear and explicit. I was pleasantly surprised with how everything fit together so nicely.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved the instructions. I love the sweetheart neckline and the pocket placement.
I'm not a huge fan of pleated skirts because I never feel like they are flattering on me.
Fabric Used:
Cotton Poplin from Fabric.com
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I did a swayback alteration by just sewing the bottom of the bodice higher up on the top of the bodice. I also had several issues attaching the skirt to the waist (mostly because I was such a new sewist), so I haphazardly tried to put it together.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
If I come across the right fabric, I may. In reality, this pattern is so unique, I probably won't sew it again. I would recommend it to others because it is a very charming FO, and I love the little details + instructions.
Conclusion:
You can find more pictures and read more about my Macaron on my blog.
