I bought this very pattern in 1978 and have made it several times. I have never used double faced wool as recommended, though I saw a woman wearing that version in 1981 in San Francisco looking wonderfully chic. I have used boiled wool with one layer and woven wool doubling the outer border. I have never lined it. I have always thought it would be good quilted. It's a wonderful pattern and I always got lots of compliments on my versions. I will have to make a new one soon. Thanks for the reminder.
