Used this early American Colonial costume to make a little bo peep to match her pony, who we dressed as a sheep Pattern Description:
I made view A Pattern Sizing: child's and women's--I made child's only. Measured and sloped between sizes for an extra-petite daughter
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
yes, though we made some modifications to the bonnet so it would fit over a riding helmet
Were the instructions easy to follow?
yes. I didn't follow them directly at places. I like having French seams with such a light (cotton gingham) fabric.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The two views are different. It's great to have the shawl and bonnet available. It was easy to install the zipper at the back and get a more fitted look.
This isn't a quick sew-em-up--there are a reasonable number of fiddly little pieces, but it's more robust as a garment in the end for the work.
Love the bonnet, too!
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Changed to make it fit an extra petite daughter. Surprisingly, she was able to ride in this dress---it's fitted at the bodice, but the sleeves and the skirt are very movable. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
probably won't sew again, but it was fun. Love making our own costumes!
