Pattern Description: A flattering and curvy dress. Includes a bodice fitted with darts, along with a contrasting top yoke, sleeves, and narrow midriff band. Short sleeves are gently scalloped along the sleeve hem, echoing the shape of the bodice. Skirt has large pleats, with pockets hidden in the front pleats. Closes with an invisible side zipper.
Pattern Sizing: I made a sz 18 with adjustments
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes
Fabric Used: The yoke is a t-shirt weight knit and the main fabric is a stretch Sateen
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made the yoke from a t-shirt knit in a sz 12 and the rest of the dress in a sz18. The front of the bodice is from Colette patterns Eclair (I find princess seams a lot more flattering/easier to fit on me). I lowered and widened the neckline and lengthened and squared off the sleeves and used binding instead of facings around the neckline/arms.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, it took me a few muslins to be happy but now its fitted I love it.
Conclusion: I used the knit yoke idea from this dress. The type of knit really affects how the dress turns out so make sure you use the same type for the muslin and the main dress (ask me how I know this, lol).
The pockets are set into a slash in the front of the skirt. The instructions have you set them in and sew them up and then finish the seams which is nearly impossible but if you slash, sew on the pockets then serge the slash its a lot neater and easier.
I have a heap more pics at my blog
