Pattern Description: Evening gown with ruched front
Pattern Sizing: It comes sizes 36-44. I am usually a size 14 up top and 18 on bottom, so I used the size 44 up top and added some more width to the sides below the waist. But the material had a 2way stretch. I should have made it smaller to hug my body better.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes except I made it floor length
Were the instructions easy to follow? a little confusing about that tie at the top so I omitted it. After that I did my own thing.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? This dress is very forgiving. Two pattern pieces.
Fabric Used:two way stretch polyester knit, teal with teal sequins, washable and very heavy. Used 4 yards.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I made it a floor length gown with a slit up the front. The shoulder seams kept moving to the back so I took off an inch off the top of the front to move the shoulder seams to the top of the shoulder. I did not gather the lining at the shoulder seam to give it less bulk. I cut the excess off. It suggested an invisible zipper, I could not find one to match so used a regular zipper. I will use an invisible zipper or no zipper next time.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes I would make this again. Very feminine gown. But I would make it closer fitting.
Conclusion: I enjoyed making this gown. It cost $15 for the material. Very heavy material because I lined it with the same material.
I would love to see your finished dress, but the picture will not open
