Pattern Description: Misses retro cocktail dress, kimono sleeves, fitted skirt
Pattern Sizing: Misses
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not so much, I frankenpatterned it up
Were the instructions easy to follow? Very much so.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the idea of this, but I prefer a fuller skirt, so I used a different pattern for that- setting off a deadly chain reaction of changes
Fabric Used: An upholstery taffeta
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: Changing the skirt made the waist need to change too- I did not do the waist gathers, I took it in back and sides, then put major darts in the back. I also think my fabrics weight made the little bow front not work, so I left it a cowl neck with the almost invisible slit feature
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? This is a toughy- it fits oddly. The under arm area sees huge and to alter it much more would change the sleeve shape. I like it, but I consider it a major fit failure.
Conclusion: I felt pretty in it- it is a limited engagement frock, but if you want a pretty one off, it is special. More pics of dogs and divans? pretty grievances

The dress looks lovely in the photo, the colour and style work really well for you. If there are fit issues I don't spot them.

A lovely, absolutely lovely dress and you look gorgeous in it! The fit issues are not apparent. But can you expand on the use of an upholstery fabric for a garment? What considerations/adjustments did you make because of the fabric choice?

Sounds like you had the domino effect when you started changes! That happens to me too. But your end result is lovely. Love the dress on you and the beautiful fabric.

Great dress! The fabric texture makes it for me. Can't wait to see the Brian Setzer dress! I hope Mary Poppins makes it to Charleston eventually. It's the first movie I have vivid memories of seeing as a child (yes-first run at the movie theater!)
