Pattern Description: Inspired by Project Runway. Misses' Dress sewing pattern with collar and sleeve variations.
Pattern Sizing: 4 - 20. I made a size 12, grading out to a 14 in the waist and hips, which according to the pattern envelope I needed to do, however I ended up taking it in again when sewing up the side seams so I should have cut a straight size 12.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yep.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I liked the construction of sewing bodice and skirt together front and back BEFORE sewing up the side seams. This was useful as I needed to take it in alot at the sides to get the fit right. I love the pockets. The darts in the bodice are angled and unusual but give a really nice fit. The pleats in the skirt are also angled and very flattering.
Fabric Used:A rather disappointing cotton something or other from Spotlight. The dye job is terrible and the colour run rather badly but I do so much sewing at night I didn't notice until the dress was well underway. I am hoping to fix with some colour-run-fixer.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I took a wedge out of the centre front to remove gaping at the neck plus my usual sloping shoulder and narrow shoulder adjustments. I also needed a 1" seam at the centre back when I fitted the zipper, which probably means I should have sized down to a 10 in the bodice. I lined the bodice and underlined the skirt.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I may sew it again in one of the other versions. I would recommend it to others.
Conclusion: This is one of those really popular patterns that when I was looking around it seems to have been made by everyone, so I enjoyed getting on the 2444 bandwagon. Some more pics on my blog.
Lovely dress! What type of color-run-fixer will you use? I'm not familiar with any! Thanks for the review.
