| Thank you to everyone who gave me suggestions. I have lowered the neckline 1/2" in the front and already that makes a big difference. Much better here
I will be making this again, and hope to get it done for the LBD contest. Some people have had trouble opening the link to more pictures. If you can't open that, try my blog, Encue Creations
Pattern Description: OOP dress pattern with jacket. I have made the dress
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Well, it does on the previous reviewers, but I don't think it does on me. The neckline is higher on mine.
Were the instructions easy to follow? pretty much. I was a little confused on a few parts, but it became clear as I was doing it.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I've had this pattern in my stash for a long time, but finally got around to making it now. I like the seam lines in the front and back.
I do not like the way they have you do the lining. It is left open at the shoulder seams and pulled through that way. I never like the way the finished shoulders look like this, so I don't know why I thought it would work for me this time. The way I prefer to do it is like this: Lining a Sleeveless Dress
Fabric Used:
a linen and poly blend. Unfortunately, it wrinkles like crazy
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I did an FBA and tapered to a larger size in the hip. I used an invisible zipper instead of a regular zip. Now that I have made it, I made some alterations to the pattern that I should have made before. ONe of those is a say-back adjustment. I also lowered the bust curve a bit. I may need to lower the bottom of the armscye slightly as well. I will also lower the neckline if I make it again. (I may still do it on this one....)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I'm not sure. I made this as a test pattern for the LBD pattern. It seemed to fit fine until I put the lining in. I had a lot of excess fabric in the upper chest, so I pinched that out and re-sewed the princess seams. I thought that took care of it, but now I have some wrinkled seams there and I still have the excess fabric. I think I need to take a horizontal tuck in the upper bodice and see if that takes care of it. Also, I'm not sure I like this style on me. I thought the shoulders would look wider to balance my hips.
Conclusion: For being a semi-fitted dress, it is surprisingly comfortable. I need to lower the neckline though. I would love some feedback on whether to cut this dress out of my black wool and silk lining to make the LBD, or if I should go with another pattern. Also, not sure about the length. I'm seeing some longer dresses that I really like (maybe 2-3" longer) but I'm also wondering if it would look better shorter for the LBD. What do you think about this dress? Thanks for your input!! more pictures

I've been following this on your blog and I agree that the neckline could be lowered. Otherwise, I think it looks very nice on you. As for length, I like it the way it is now, but that's always a personal choice. If you shorten it for your LBD, I wouldn't take it up too much. JMHO ;-) BTW, your ''more pictures'' link isn't working :-(

Nancy, this dress looks fabulous - the style suits you nicely !!! Your VH review reminded me I have overlooked this pattern in my stash.

I like this for a little black dress. The length is perfect, but I also agree, the neck is too high. I love this color though.

I like it for a little black dress because the lines are unique yet it's a classic. You look gorgeous in fuschia.

mmmm. This dress does look very nice on you. It's obviously well made and the color is very flattering. perfect color, really. I do not think the style is great for you however. I think you need a defined waist. Like a seam at the waist or something. The thing is, YOU HAVE A WAIST. you are very lucky to have a nice waist/hip ratio. This dress masks that.

looks fabulous! It's a shame that fabric wrinkles, I thought that linen-poly is better than pure linen regarding wrinkles..

Beautiful dress and a fabulous color on you!

Would you believe that this is on my cutting table for the LBD contest, too? I have had the pattern forever and have always thought the lines were pretty. It looks so nice on you!

Honestly I like the neckline both ways. It is very flattering.
