|Pattern Description: |
"This is the dress of the moment, slip it on and tie the extended ends in a knot at the front or leave hang loosely for fashion statement. This dress can be made with a short sleeve or bind the armholes for a sleeveless version"
StyleArc patterns come in one size, this is a size 8.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Pretty much, a bit gapey at neck (see below)
Were the instructions easy to follow?
StyleArc instructions are brief. I was a bit confused with the instructions for sewing on the facing to the neckline, but just followed what I knew from other things I have made.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
The reason I bought this pattern is because it reminded me of a dress I can make with a sarong by tying the ends together, putting over the head, and gathering the sides to tie at the front. Because this is a slip on dress I figured the tie at the front would give it some shape. This mostly worked, but the ties don't tie at the waist, rather over the hips so the overall effect was different from what I could do with a sarong.
The neck is gapey on me, but this may be because I have narrow shoulders and often woven necklines don't sit flat on me.
The dress was easy to sew because there is no zip.
Dress collage photo (hard to see tie at front due to detail of fabric)
It is drapey like rayon and has a lot of polyester but I'm not sure of it's actual name.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made no alterations to the patten.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I think I will sew it again, perhaps in a plainer fabric. I love the fabric but it tends to drown out the detail of the tie at the front.
Makes a slightly out of the ordinary looking slip-on dress. A material with a bit more body might work a bit better than the lightweight material I used.
