Pattern Description: A sweetheart dress with lace overlay.
Pattern Sizing: I used the size 14, but unfortunately I did not measure myself correctly and had to pay the price. It was about 4 inches too small so I had to recut the bodice and the lining. I had to raise the skirt in order to match the new waist size, which was hard with all the layers.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?: Yes! Besides cutting the back into a "V" shape it looks like it. I did not agree with how the lace should be buttoned up and let hang; it drooped and it was not pretty. I made the executive decision, before I went to state, to cut it into a "V" and narrow hem the edges.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, very much.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I did not like the back, as said before, for being too much fabric and too much weight for the lace to hold up. It drooped in the back.
Fabric Used: 100% polyester, prom-dress-type of fabric. I used 100% polyester for everything. I used dark blue lace over a teal/turquoise fabric. It looked great together and it was the best combination that I could have picked./b>
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: the back changed in to a "V" shape, sizing, and I chose not to use a rippon for the waist. (the second link is the back of the dress)
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Although I love the way it turned out, I would not sew this again. Once is enough and I'm moving on to other projects. I would recommend this to others because it involves a lot of french seams and princess seams to practice and use on a pattern.
Conclusion: I went to state for this dress and I am so very happy with it; I won a gold and I give all the thanks to God. Have fun sewing!
