| When I feel like making a pattern up but can't justify making it for myself, I try to find someone in the family to sew for. This pattern was made up for my SIL. Pattern Description:
Dresses A, B, C, D have bodice variations with front pleats, neckline variations, self-faced midriff, pleated skirt front, back zipper and sleeves in three lengths; dresses A, B have scoop neck; dress A has short sleeves; dress B has long sleeves; dresses C, D have wrapped bodice, “V&” neck and self-ties; dress C has three-quarter length sleeves; dress D has long sleeves; dresses A, B, C, D length is 1" below mid-knee.
I made the v-neck version with short sleeves so SIL can wear this on her up coming holiday with the family. Click here to see the full details. Pattern Sizing:
8 - 16. I made the 14 as a starting point. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes it did so that pleased me. I can see why so many sewers love this pattern. SIL loves this dress and it's a test version. Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were and because it's a Palmer Pletsch, there's a lot of details for adjusting the sizing for any body type. That's got to be a good thing for newbie sewers. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I'm not a fan of full skirts in knit fabrics. This doesn't help balance a look for petite people like moi.
I folded out some of the fullness in the skirt without changing the dimensions at the hip width. Fabric Used:
Poly knit with an all over print. The challenge was in getting the lines to match. They do match at the shoulders and across the bodice. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Roll shoulder adjustment
Hem length adjustment.
Since the fitting this on SIL, I've moved the sleeve forward by 2cm because it looks too wide at the top and the sleeve position change has slimmed her bodice.
SIL loves this dress and wants 2 more. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes I would. Conclusion:
This is a good starting point to make a couple of handy knit dresses. The style is flattering when your waist decides to change on you by creating a waistline and the v-neck with waist pleating makes the dress look like a faux wrap dress.
I'm really stoked that this dress is so flattering without the belt. | Buy this pattern for $12.71 List Price: $16.95 Add to Bag |

What a lucky SIL! The dress is really pretty. I love the fabric you chose.

So pretty! Is a roll shoulder adjustment the same as a forward adjustment?

Lovely dress! I like the sunburst effect on the bodice.
