Pattern Description: Misses Lined Dresses and Flower
Pattern Sizing:10-18
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? So so. At first I was going to make the two shoulder draped version, but when I tried to alter the pattern pieces to fit me I knew I either had to scrap the project or use a different top. I love the end result.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I like that there are options to the dress, but as always with choices comes confusion. It was a bit complicated picking out yardage since I was adding an extra layer of material over the skirt. Adding boning to a dress always scares me a little for some reason although I have never had any problem with it. I also love using an invisible zipper.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:I had to refit the top of the pattern because I have a very short torso. I had to make the top several sizes smaller than they suggest to remove the "ease". I also added a thin gathered layer of tulle over the metallic skirt.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?I would sew it again now that I've fitted it to myself properly. I like the shape on me. I would only recommend this dress if you have some sewing experience and you are not afraid to experiment a little to find a great fit.
Conclusion: I'm really glad I took the time to make this dress. I've had this pattern in my stash for many years now and I've always been too afraid to give it a try. Working with tulle was a new journey for me. This is a great dress if you have a little experience under your belt and you want to push yourself just a little bit.
