Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, as much as it could since I combined views.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, very easy. I love Kwik Sew directions and illustrations!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like the style - it's a classic. I wanted this dress fully lined because the rayon-lycra knit I used was pretty lightweight. The pattern called for lining the bodice and had directions to do so, but I made the rest up as I went along. This is no fault of the pattern because Kwik Sew didn't intend for it to be fully lined, but things got a bit bulky around the waist with all the layers and the clear elastic, and it kinda bugs me when I wear it even though you can't see a problem from the outside. I probably should have handled the lining differently to avoid this.
View with cardigan - this how I'll usually wear it.
Fabric Used:
Rayon-lycra knit from Emma One Sock, lining also from EOS - it's her Venezia 4-way stretch lining.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I combined the two views, making the dress but with the bodice of the tunic. The pattern was just a bit too big in a couple of areas, so I took off 1/2 inch at the shoulder seams and 1/2 inch at the underarms, tapering out to the normal size where the bodice meets the waist band. I also fully lined the dress, whereas the pattern had called for only lining the bodice.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I will probably sew this again. The style is a basic, classic shape, so I don't think it would look strange to have more than one of these if the fabric is different enough.
Conclusion:
A great basic knit dress pattern!
