Pattern Description:
This is a McCall's Easy stitch 'n save pattern of a classic straight dress with scoop neck. It can be made with or without sleeves. Pattern Sizing:
I used the size A which covers (8-10-12-14) I used the size 10 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It definitely would have but I decided I wanted to change the bottom part of the design. Were the instructions easy to follow?
The instructions were very easy to follow and there were also the tipical tips and tricks you can use. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I really like just about everything in this pattern. It was easy to construct, easy directions, and easy to alter. I especially liked the style because I did not have to alter the waist area and I am short waisted . All I needed to do was pay close attention to the darts. Fabric Used:
I used a heavy black cotton lace and a lining of dark navy blue cotton. I like natural fabrics when I can use them and this lace seemed like it was made for this dress. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I chose dress A and kept the top portion to just about mid thigh the way it is in the picture on the pattern except I made the back neckline into a deep V rather than rounded. This meant I would use a 14" zipper rather than a 22" zipper. At about 4" below the zipper I cut the dress straight across the back and curved the 2 frount pieces so they would meet in a point at the center front of the dress. This was done so I could incorporate the lovely scalloped edge of the lace on the bottom part of the dress into a nice ruffle, giving the dress a little flirty look and allowing some swing to the fabric. I made the lining the same way but cut it 3" shorter than the lace. The lining is 14" long and the lace is 17" long. This allows the lace pattern to be noticed as you move. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Absolutely on both counts. As a matter of fact I am making another dress from this pattern right now but this one will be in wool. Conclusion:
I really enjoyed working with pattern and intend to make several more dresses using it. Because this pattern was so easy to use I practiced all my couture techniques on this dress and was very pleased with the result.

Thank you all. I am trying to get the pics of the dress without accessories and how I wore it as a jumper posted as well but I am having trouble figuring out how.

Thank you all, again. I was finally able to get some links into the review so you could see the dress used in different ways. I really like the "school teacher" look since I was a teacher.
