Pattern Description:
Misses' Coat Pattern Sizing:
8-16 (I made a 10) Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, apart from my choice to o buttons instead of toggles Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, it's a Very Easy Vogue pattern, I think someone with little or no sewing experience could sew this pattern. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I liked that it was super fast and uncomplicated. I have never sewn thick fabrics as I have only recently upgraded from my John Lewis Mini to a Bernette, so I was a bit scaredy. I don't normally go for non fitted looks, but this looked kind of 60s and I liked it. For some weird reason they want you to line the sleeve separately and then sew them in. I didn't want my seams to show, so I lined the whole coat then hand sewed the lining at the cuffs. Fabric Used:
Crazy mystery wool from Ditto fabrics. Bit of a picnic blanket look to it. Also used some nasty cheap polyester lining (oh the regrets), and micro fleece to interline. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Just the sleeve lining thing, the addition of interlining and buttons instead of toggles. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would like to sew the hooded view in a red waxed cotton with a liberty print lining for Spring. Conclusion:
Very fun little pattern for an afternoon sew.

My treat to myself that no one sees, unless you take your coat off that is. Sound like this coat will be very warm. Enjoy your new coat. 12/3/12 7:03 PM

I have learnt my lesson though on buying cheap lining online. It is not worth saving a few quid on the lining on coats, because the lining is half the fun! 12/4/12 2:09 PM
