The jacket in view B is a great place to start and can be made to look like a merchant class man or by using luxury fabrics, it can look like a minor nobleman. View A is more correct for the "Tudor" time period although the skirts should be fuller and gathered into the waist seam. This pattern, View B, needs to have a small "stand-up/mandarin collar" added to the jacket to make it more correct for the Renaissance/Elizabethan time period. The collar on the jacket/doublet helps the shirt collar to stand-up as it should. The pants are a good beginning pattern and are correct for a merchant class man during the Renaissance/Elizabethan time period.
