Pattern Description: Misses' pullover dress in two lengths with tiered skirt or top and tie belt. Cynthia Rowley Collection. I made View A which is the blouse version with tie sleeves.
Pattern Sizing:H5 (6 - 14). I made a size 6 even though by measurements I should have made the 12 as I took note of other reviews mentioning how much ease this pattern had.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Totally.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes. Very.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love, love this pattern. It is easy to sew and gloriously feminine. Even with the extra steps of adding french seams and sewing with chiffon this still was a quick project. It is super flattering and has lovely details like the sleeve ties and the dropped shoulder. The sizing is a bit strange, it is sized very large. I would recommend going down at least two sizes. I went down three which I think was a bit much as my french seams used a bit more fabric than I expected as I couldn't sew too close to the edge due to the chiffon, so I probably ended up making a size 4. Next time I will make an 8.
Fabric Used:A chiffon fabric from my stash. I only had about a metre of 150cm wide and I had just enough.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I took note of the other reviews and lengthened the ties on the sleeves about 2 inches as a few people mentioned they were very short. I also added elastic into the waistband seam using the seam as the casing, like others I don't know why this is not included in the instructions as it really is needed. I also added a clear press stud to the neck seam to hold it closed as otherwise it gapes. I sewed the neck facing so that it showed as a binding as I thought that would look better with the see-through fabric. I usually need to make alot of fitting adjustments like sway back, forward shoulder, SBA, narrow shoulder adjustment and I didn't need to do any fitting tweaks to get this pattern to fit well.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes, I will sew this again, probably the dress and I willl do another blouse for sure. I completely recommend this to others.
Conclusion: I love this pattern. It is so feminine. By looking at the other reviews I can see it is really flattering on a wide range of body shapes and sizes. You can see more pics over on my blog. It needs a lovely drapey and lightweight fabric to really work well.
