What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? The finished quilt is adorable.
Fabric Used: 100% cotton, though the pattern calls for fleece. The back is 100% cotton flannel for softness.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: My daughter wanted this quilt for her nursery, but when we explored fabrics, I thought the fleece "quilt" was more of a blanket. To me a quilt is cotton with batting, so I used the pattern, but cut the pieces 1/4" larger and hand appliqued the pieces to the topper. One the top was completed, I hand quilted around the appliques. Since I didn't think so little quilting would hold up in the wash, I hand quilted a random, rambling stitch across the open areas. Before giving it to my daughter, I washed the quilt, which gave it the puckering that (to me) is a quilt.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes. It was not that hard. I had always shy'ed away from handquilting, thinking I couldn't do it. This was a great starter for me since the pieces are quite simple.
Conclusion: My daughter loves it, and it really is a focal point in her nursery.
