| Pattern Description:
Huge coat, ethnic touch. Pattern Sizing:
6 - 22 Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes, if you drape the collar on purpose and do not move too much,
the draping will have to be repeated when wearing it outside if you leave original.
I used size 14, and my coat is much huger compared to the small japanese model on the envelope. Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, never had problems with vogue. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I disliked that the coat is open and does not really fit as winter garment because it has no closing device to protect you from cold/ winds. This made me add a closing-device next to the left shoulder, a wooden cornet with a leather string-loop - and that changes the falling of the collar, but still looks great, and I feel like a mongolian horserideress!
I liked and still like its ethnic touch and extraordinary shape and tayloring.
Fabric Used:
Boiled wool (lana cotta) doubleface, outside fir green, inside olive green. The inside colour shows only in the collar, no contrasting seams. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Closing divice added. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? No sewing again, I still have it but don't wear it so much anymore because its not very practical for everyday use when using a car or a bicycle. But it is adventurous when walking in public, I got a lot of attention for it, and felt quite authentic as a "mongolian princess" in contrast to the metropolis I live in. If you like garments with an ethnic touch, I highly recommend it! Attention: Maybe its not really good for smaller women (I'm 1.78 mtr.) because they might feel dominated by it. (I think the coat has been draped on the back i.o. to make that photo of the japanese model on the envelope. In reality it's got much, much more volume, and maybe not only due to the size. Conclusion:
Adventurous, anyway. |

Congratulations on your first review. I have had this pattern for many years and have always wanted to make this coat. Maybe one day. Pity you don't have a photo.

I made this years ago and I would suggest making a smaller size than you would normally make, maybe one to two sizes smaller.
