Pattern Description: "Semi-fitted, partially interfaced, lined, above-hip jacket has collar, cut-in shoulders, shoulder pads, welt pockets, side panels, no side seams and long, two-piece sleeves. Slightly flared or flared skirt, mid-knee or floor-length, has contour waist and back zipper. B: back extends into train." I made the jacket.
Pattern Sizing: 6-22
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? yes, except for the pockets/buttons
Were the instructions easy to follow?not really...this is an older pattern and the quality of the drawings was not very high.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?I had a piece of VERY SPECIAL brocade to sew...and this pattern seemed perfect for it.
Fabric Used: Silk/wool European brocade from Britex Fabrics
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I found the coat hooks and eyes called for not easy to put in. I substituted vintage buttons with loops. I did not make the full pocket, just put on flaps.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I have one partially finished that I used as a test jacket; I'll probably finish that. It's pretty distinctive to have more than one. I recommend it to anyone who likes the "Cruella deVil" look! (I do)
Conclusion: A very special jacket made of expensive fabric, which I think suits the pattern very well. For more pictures and descriptions, see my blog
