Were the instructions easy to follow?
I made these tops at the beginning of this year and have only just got around to reviewing it. I think the instructions were fine. The only difficulty I had was the usual pleats dyslexia made worse by holding the fabric the wrong way up... my tip - when comparing your pattern pieces to the pattern instructions, make sure you have the fabric the same way up as the diagram... I ended up sewing the pleats twice and couldn't work out the first time why it didn't make any sense to me. Anyway I must remember that sewing a pleat is like sewing a dart but with one end open - I really didn't get it the first time I tried it and had them sewn very strangely. Luckily it unpicked better than I thought it would.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I loved the drape of both of these tops. With View A I had a problem with my back bra band showing (seems to work in some reviews I have read, but didn't hide the back strap for me) I also found the shoulders slipped off. I have eventually found a fix for these problems (which may be obvious to some) but I have posted my fixes here... Click Here
Fabric Used:
Bamboo jersey bought at Gorgeous fabrics. A wonderful drape for these tops. I also made the contrast loops on View C out of soft nappa leather and love the look. BTW I have washed this top and all I need to do is straighten the loops after washing, before line drying.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
No alterations made, except my contrast loops ended up a bit longer than the pattern intended as I didn't cut off the seam allowance and of course didn't need it for the leather.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
View C a definite must make if you love this top. View A may need some fiddling to make it wearable. If you are prepared for that it is a great top.
Conclusion:
Love these tops and have worn both of them a few times now. I would love to make more from this great pattern.
