Pattern Description: Girls Jackets with optional hood
Pattern Sizing: XS-XL (4/5 -12/14) I made a small for my 6 yr old.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes very.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I wanted a basic fleece jacket with a zip front and pockets. This pattern was perfect. I especially like how the pockets look very professional and RTW.
Fabric Used: Fleece from Jo-Ann's (I should have used non-pill fleece)
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I didn't use a contrast fabric for the side panels.
Step 7 instructs you to stitch the back facing down along its edge. I didn't want any stitching visible across the back of the jacket so I didn't do that. I did tack the facing down at the shoulder seams and to help keep it from rolling outward, I stitched-in-the-ditch by hand along the collar seam. This worked well.
After wearing the jacket for a while, my daughter complained that she didn't like that the pockets 'flopped around' ie weren't attached to anything. So I hand tacked the pocket to the hem seam and the facing. I JUST REALIZED--Step 14 (which I missed completely) does instruct you to tack the pocket to the facings. So don't skip this.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? Yes and yes! I would recommend using a non-pill fleece to make this. I did not and after a few washes there is already some pilling. Otherwise the jacket is great.
Jacket looks super comfy and warm for your lucky little girl. Love the pattern in the fleece.
