Pattern Description:
Trousers with angled hip pockets and top-stitched creases.
Pattern Sizing:
34- 42. I made the 38.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes. Were the instructions easy to follow?
They are limited. They do not follow an order of construction I prefer. I sew pockets on the front and then insert the zipper whereas Burda sews the side seams and then the zip.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I like the shape and fit of the trousers. The angled hip pockets also work well.
I have been wearing the navy trousers to work for a few weeks now...they have proved comfortable as well as still looking good after a long day.
Fabric Used:
Pair 1. Navy viscose from Fabric Store Brisbane; current stock. This is a medium weight and drapes well.
Pair 2. Not yet photographed on me. A green taupe check from Tessuti Melbourne; purchased over 12 months ago. A lovely fabric, quite expensive but gives a lovely drape and it lovely to sew. I am hoping I can wear this in our summer (in sub-tropical Brisbane) ...time will tell.
Buttons for welts and front closure.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I made no alterations for fit.
I omitted the front creases. Front
On the navy pair I made two single welt pockets on the rear. I copied the placement from another pair of trousers I own.
For the green check I included one single welt pocket.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes, I intend to in the future.
Conclusion:
I have a number of trousers in my wardrobe all from Burda. Every pair was a great fit straight from the pattern envelope or traced from the magazine...flared jeans, straight jeans, stovepipes and trousers. I wear them all constantly. This pattern is part of this suite...a great fit and shape. I really am a fan of Burda's draft for trousers.
