Pattern Description: " Knit knee-length dress with front surplice (mock wrap) neckline, short kimono sleeves and an easily customizable midriff section. The skirt features in-seam pockets and falls in the soft folds of a vintage half-circle skirt. The pattern includes optional stripes placement guide, cup sizing A-D and a bust alteration line."
Pattern Sizing: 30-50, based on high bust measurement
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes!
Were the instructions easy to follow? The instructions are excellent. The diagrams are large and easy to interpret and the written instructions are very clear. The pattern includes a one shot diagram with numbered seams, so that you can see an overview of construction as well. There are excellent sewing tips included, as well as reminders for seam finishing, topstitching and fitting as you go. Really a comprehensive instruction set, yet still only one page!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I love the flowing style of dress. My wardrobe is already full of knit dresses, many with wrap style bodices, but I had to add this one. I really find the midriff panel very flattering and the bodice fit variations make for a really excellent fit. The skirt is nice and full, without being costume-y. And it has pockets!! No dislikes.
Fabric Used: ITY that I lucked out on at Hancock's
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I used my coverstitch to bind the neckline, and widened the sleeve bands. I also lengthened the skirt. I traced out the size based on the comprehensive fit instructions and it was SPOT ON. That's right y'all - usually I make a petite adjustment above the bust, large FBA, broad back adjustment and sometimes a swayback, but for this pattern I needed no adjustments for fit. I did initially lengthen the bodice, but while sewing ended up taking out all the length I had added.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? YES!! This pattern is going to get sewn many times. I love the way it fits and wears. I highly recommend it.
Conclusion: What? You don't have this pattern yet?? Go get it now!! |

Your dress looks really cute on you. Thanks for all the comments on how it actually wears and how it fits. I need all those adjustments too and it's nice to know how well the dress fit out of the box.

yay! another review. I love your Tira. Love it. I saw some ITY at the small fabric shop in town. I think it'll work for Spring. It felt so cold. I just want to make everything in wool right now. :)
