| Pattern Description:
CHILDREN'S/GIRLS' TOP, DRESS AND PANTS: Pullover top or dress has self-lined, mock, wrap upper front/back, gathered lower front/back, back button closing and purchased trim. A: contrast upper right front and belt. Belt extends into tie ends. B: various contrasts and hem band. Pants have elastic waist, ruffles attached to bands, and very narrow hems.
Pattern Sizing:
childs 2-5, and girls 6-8, I made size 4 length and 3 width. (tall and skinny little girl)
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
Yes with sleeves. I wanted sleeves so I used pattern McCall's 5966 view C with 2 inches added to the sleeve length.
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Great directions!
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I love the look of all the ruffles! Nice full ruffles, no skimpy ones. Be prepared for LOTS of gathering!! I did read somewhere that the bodice runs wide so I traced the size 3 for width but 4 for everything else. The sash will also help with that
Fabric Used:
Quilters cotton given by a friend. This was sewn for a friend's grandbaby and she is a HUGE horse lover
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I used McCall's 5966 for sleeves and made a size smaller for the bodice. Now for the pants I pinned the whole ruffle cuff to the pants and measured before sewing. Mine would have been too long but since it wasn't sewn on yet, I was able to cut 1 inch off the pant legs and then sew ruffle on. Something to keep in mind with making these
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
My girls want one so I guess I have to sew again Very cute pattern sewn up and not hard at all. Just all the gathers are time consuming but that is what makes the outfit! Great pattern to used for mixing fabrics. I am very happy with the end result and my friend was super thrilled too.

I LOVE this in these fabrics! Super outfit, no wonder your girls want it. You're inspiring me for my grandkids.

Love it! I have this pattern for my grandchildren but haven't yet sewn it. My granddaughters are ages 3.5, 4, and 5.5. I find patterns tend to run big. They wear sizes 4, 5, and 6 in ready-to wear. Did the sizing on this run anywhere close to ready-to-wear sizes?

Thank you for the sweet comments! For the sizing, I think the top runs wider than RTW but length was good. Pants fit great, just double check length you want before sewing. The little one I sewed these for wears 4T pants and 4T tops and I did the same size in the pattern. Fits her good. Seems like the newer patterns are doing a better job on fitting but I still have the huge problem sometimes.
