|Pattern Description: Duffle bags and drawstring bag. I made the large sized View B quilted duffle bag.|
Pattern Sizing: Duffle bag patterns are for a large and small size.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Yes.
Were the instructions easy to follow? The sewing instructions were not hard to follow. I thought the yardage and cutting layout were confusing. It took me awhile to figure out how to use the Guide pattern piece, which actually was useless and unnecessary. I ended up not following their directions to save fabric/money.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? For those making the quilted version of the bag, there should be separate yardage for the backing of the quilted fabric. The backing can be made from muslin (or something cheap), while the lining can be a fashion fabric if desired.
Also, disappointed that the large and small quilted duffle bags don't have pockets included. It was easy enough to add my own, but they should have been included.
Fabric Used: I used 100% cotton fabric. I used more expensive fabric for the primary outside fabric and for the lining. For the back of the quilted portion (that will never be seen), I used some old cotton fabric from my stash.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I added pockets to the ends of the bag, and also a pocket to the inside lining.
Would you sew it again? Yes, my daughter loved the bag, which I made for my niece. My daughter wants one for Christmas now, which means I'll have to make one for my other daughter too! I'll be sewing until Santa arrives!
Conclusion: I like the pattern with modifications, but think the cutting instructions are confusing. I usually sew bags and quilts from quilt patterns/books bought in quilt shops, and I think the fabric/cutting instructions are better in those.
