Pattern Description: This is a retro-styled princess seam sheath dress with collar options.
Pattern Sizing: I cut the 10 in the shoulders and then tapered to the 8 in the waist and hips. The length was perfect.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?Yes it did.
Were the instructions easy to follow? Yes, I like the New Look pattern instructions. They follow a good sequence of construction.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? I really like the collar and the little puff sleeves that are made by pleating the fabric. The sleeves require a lining. I really like the pockets, too!
Fabric Used: I used a pink checked boucle. I love the look of the fabric with the white gabardine accents but the fabric was very difficult to work with. I should have underlined it because the weave is loose.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I didn't make any changes in the pattern but did use a while accent for pockets and collar.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I want to make this dress in a fabric with more body.
Conclusion: I love the variations in this pattern. It would make it best in a fabric with more body like a doubleknit and stretch cotton sateen.

CissieW said... What a perfect dress. Love your fabric choice, though I well know how worrisome boucle can be to work with. Underlining helps, especially since these loosely woven fabrics tend to stretch. Also pinking or serging the raw edges works sometimes. 12/12/12 3:02 PM
