Pattern Description: This is actually an amalgamation of 4070's skirt with 2174's bodice. I found this dress at Myer and fell in love with it. It was a bit pricey for me and I felt I could make something just like it. Now that I've made it up, I actually like mine better! That has never happened before!
Pattern Sizing: I made a 14 but my measurements were more like a 16. I find this dress a tinsy bit on the big side but it's very comfortable.
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it? Not really because I made something totally different
Were the instructions easy to follow? I'm not sure I used them.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern? 4070's bodice did not fit me at all - it bunched at the back and was not princess seamed at the back which I wanted. So I hunted around for the perfect bodice and found it in 2174. I still had to take some length out of the shoulderblades but it basically fit much better than 4070. I really like the skirt though - it's really pretty.
Fabric Used: Cotton voile and cotton batiste lining
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made: I used the bodice of 2174 with some bulk taken out of the back, the skirt of 4070 and I added the waist piece from the Cambie dress. I also added pockets from the Cambie dress only I redrafted them so that they were much deeper. I lined the whole dress by adding the lining to the main piece and sewing it as one piece. I found this worked best for the pleats.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others? I will and have.
Conclusion: I love this dress and get lots of comments when I wear it. I have stopped telling people I made it because it feels like I'm fishing for compliments so now I just say "thanks". It's one of the few dresses I own that I really really love! Worth every penny and I like it more than the inspiration dress which cost 5 times as much!
