| Pattern Description:
Straight skirt, mid-knee length, has side zipper and faced waistline; skirt A has shaped lower back flounce; skirt B has pleated lower back; skirt C has gathered lower back with self-fabric ruffle; skirt D has two lower back flounces.
Pattern Sizing:
(12 - 18) I wavered between the 10 for my waist and an 11 1/2 over the hips!
Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
From the front, yes. But my flounce doesn't seem to be as flouncy as the diagram. Whether this is due to my fabric choice, or their pencil choice I am not sure!
Were the instructions easy to follow?
Extremely! It is rated as an easy pattern and McCall's have got it right on this one. Even the flounce is super easy, as it really is only an addition to the back panel.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
Liked the Princess seam lines down both the front and back, which made tweaking at fitting a breeze. Love the shape of the skirt on completion.
Fabric Used:
A linen blend from Spotlight with a super animal print. The colours go with a lot in my wardrobe (black, white and beige). But I am hopeful I can jazz it up with a touch of colour in a top.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Yes, as usual I can't just seem to sew from the packet 'as-is'. First change is using an invisible zipper - once you nail these you will never look back. Second change was to line the skirt, easy enough to do using the pattern pieces. Though, I didn't line the flounce, just around it. So because it is lined I didn't use the waist facing.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Yes to both! I have plans on giving View B with the pleated insert a go. Not sure if I am a huge fan of View A, but View C looks great for evening wear. This skirt is just so easy to adjust to different body shapes that I would definitely recommend it as a 'go-to' pattern.
Conclusion:
I think there is a lot that you could do creativiely with this pattern, adding on a lace edging, colour blocking etc. And all for just over 1 metre of fabric - no reason not to love it. More pictures at my blog...

Very nice! I'm impressed with how this skirt is both pretty and practical (matches so many of your tops), dressy or casual.

I totally agree about the invisible zipper. I can't remember the last time I even used a lapped zipper!
