Pattern Description:
These iTouch bags were a bigger version of coin purses that Goosegreen has been making for 2 years now. Pattern Sizing:
I've traced around an iPhone and added 5cm extra to insert cords into the bag. Fabric and other bits used:
Cotton quilting fabric, Armoweft interfacing, 8" zips, Steam a seam lite 2.
Steam a seam gave the zipper edges a crisp looks and feel while making it easy to top stitch around the zipper.
I don't usually make Christmas gifts but my youngest niece and nephew like it when I make 'stuff'/things for them so these bags will keep them happy, while they are interested in having 'stuff'/things made by their aunty.
Design ideas:
The nephew's suggested a couple things.
1. A hook on the outside to hang your bag on your belt.
2. Internal compartment for cords.
3. External velcro pouch for cords.
We did a road test to figure out which way the zipper should run. The decision was the zipper would close using the belt loop to straighten the zip while closing it.
The road test didn't help with the internal pocket because I don't have the dimensions of their iTouch with its case.
Would you sew it again?
Ideally - no, Realistically - yes.
Conclusion:
Every so often, I'm happy to make 'stuff'/ things for the kids but I really prefer to make clothes.
