Pattern Description:
This pattern is a 1972 Simplicity pattern for a toddler's dress and cape It is an A-line dress with ties to cinch it around the waist. It is short and meant to stop just below the bum. Pattern Sizing:
It is for a toddler size 4 or a 23 inch breast measurement. Did it look like the photo/drawing on the pattern envelope once you were done sewing with it?
It looked exactly like the envelope minus the change in colors. Were the instructions easy to follow?
They were a little daunting for the new sewist I was but very easy now that I've been sewing for a few months. What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
It came out exactly like the envelope and I like that I can do this pattern over and over again and each time it can look like a different dress. Fabric Used:
I used cotton for both versions I made and lace for one and piping for the other. Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
I lengthened the ties on the 2nd dress and have plans to make a dress with a ruffle on the bottom and make another with ruffles on the side or back panels. Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
I would sew it again. It is already in my plans and I have sewn the dress twice already and the cape just once but have the material for the second one. Conclusion:
I think this is one of my favorite patterns I own. it can be made many different ways and always look cute and fun. cape back of 1st dress 2nd dress close up of 2nd dress back of 2nd dress
