Were the instructions easy to follow?
Yes, but I made mine differently.
What did you particularly like or dislike about the pattern?
I think the straps would be a lot easier to make with cotton or nylon webbing. The strap could possibly be difficult to turn. I used a point and tube turner and it was easy to turn.
I wanted to make a casserole carrier for my mother for her birthday. I had bought a Handi-Quilter and was looking forward to using it, I haven't had a chance to set it up yet, so I did my quilting with my Juki as I have with the memory quilts I have made.
Fabric Used:
I saw the outer fabric (actually more of a duck) and fell in love with the design. I thought it would be really nice for the casserole cover. Then I found a batik cotton for the backing.
When I quilt these smaller pieces, I use fleece between my layers. It's cheap and easy.
The binding fabric is a cotton that looks like grasscloth.
Pattern alterations or any design changes you made:
Since I quilted my pieces first, I cut them without seam allowances and bound them with 1/2" double-fold bias tape that I made.
Would you sew it again? Would you recommend it to others?
Maybe. I was aiming for November for my mother's birthday, but at least she'll have it for Christmas. The pattern was very easy. I made it more complicated by quilting my own fabric, and binding the edges takes time, but the way the instructions are written, it would be a snap to make!
Conclusion:
Love how this turned out! I quilted extra fabric to make matching mitts and pot holders. I just traced mine for the pattern.

Nice work! Thanks for the tip about the fleece for sometimes quilting up fabric for projects.
